Academy Of Grooming

To Apply and Enroll

Send in your completed application form along with your $25.00 non-refundable application fee. If approved the $100 registration fee and Enrollment Agreement will be required.


No previous experience is necessary for the Happy Pets Academy of Grooming. Applicants must have a genuine concern and affection for animals. The minimum age for acceptance is age 17 (with parental consent). Professional pet grooming is a physically active profession. To excel in this profession a student needs to stay mentally focused, the ability to stand all day, good dexterity with their hands and arms, and be able to lift up to 40 Lbs. with relative ease. The school reserves the right to accept or decline an application for enrollment.

School Calender

Happy Pets Academy of Grooming will observe the following holidays: New Years Eve, New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4th (Independence Day), Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.  The school has the right to amend the calendar.

Entrance Requirements

Applicant must be 17 years of age or have parent or guardians's signature.

Applicant must be drug free, unless prescription prescribed by a medical doctor.

Applicant must possess a valid ID

Applicant must attend class when scheduled and be punctual.

Conduct and Personal Appearance

Students are expected to maintain and abide by all rules and regulations of the Happy Pets Academy of Grooming. They must conduct themselves in a manner that is not disruptive to the school or salon business. Disorderly or inappropriate conduct which includes but is not limited to, mishandling or mistreating of pets, abusive lanuage, misuse of equipment, mistreatment of salon customers, use of alcohol or illegal substances, and other inappropriate behavior are cause for dismissal. Violation of the grooming academy rules or academic failure will also result in dismissal.


No smoking is allowed in Happy Pets Academy of Grooming or Salon.


Students are asked to wear pants and a smock or apron. Nylon material is highly recommended as it repels dog hair and dries quickly.  Shoes must be worn, no sandals or open toed shoes will be permitted. Students are expected to be as neat and clean as possible at all times.


As part of the training, each student will be responsible for the sanitation and cleanliness of all tubs, floors, cages, tables, and equipment. The student will also be required to handle specific needs of the pets, including watering, and outside breaks when required.


Absences in excess of five (5) days per course will be cause for dismissal unless the school recieves justifying documentation. Students may make up lost time and work with the permission of the director.


Unexcused tardiness over fifteen (15) minutes will be penalized. Four (4) time tardy will constitute one (1) absence. Arrangements for a leave of absence must be made with the academy director with confirmation submitted in writing. Medical leaves require a doctors statement. Students will be allowed one leave of absence during the course of the program.

Course Completion

All students who complete the required course hours and pass all tests at a 70-79% level, will receive a diploma.

Refund Policy

All monies paid by the applicant will be refunded (except the application fee) if the applicant is not accepted as a student by the acadamy. When notification of cancellation is given by the applicant, in writing, within 5 days of receiving the application, but prior to the first day of class, tuition shall be refunded to the applicant no later than 30 days after cancellation. After 5 or more days of receiving the application, but prior to the first day of class, the academy will retain the registration fee of $100.00.


A student who starts class and officially withdraws after one week, the student will be obligated for 50% of the tuition, the application fee and registration fee. Two weeks after the start of class, the student will be obligated to 100% of the tuition, application fee and registration fee.
